Product Review: FarmTRX Yield Monitoring for Combine Harvesters

Updated: Feb 2

At SymAgri, we are excited to supply and support the FarmTRX Yield Monitoring system for combine harvesters, developed by the Canadian company. This innovative solution offers an affordable retrofit yield monitor that generates downloadable crop performance maps via apps compatible with standard smartphones or tablets.

The FarmTRX system comes with everything you need in one box. You can order it online as a kit from us and install it yourself, or our experienced Engineers at SymAgri can set it up for you directly on your farm.

Why Choose FarmTRX?

The FarmTRX system is especially beneficial for farms operating older combines that lack built-in yield monitors. No in-cab display is required—simply connect via Bluetooth to your phone or tablet to wirelessly transfer data to the cloud. This streamlined setup ensures that even older equipment can benefit from modern yield monitoring technology.

What’s included in the FarmTRX Harvest Bundle?

1.           Yield Monitor. The Yield Monitor ECU installs in the cab of the combine and uses Bluetooth® to pair with your smartphone or tablet. 32GB of on-board storage to archive years of harvest data.

2.           Moisture Sensor. Add moisture monitoring to your combine. The moisture sensor installs at the base of the elevator clean-out door and provides live and average moisture readings in the mobile app.

3.           QuickConnect™  Install Kit. QuickConnect™ mounting technology makes optical sensor installation fast and simple. A supplied Drill Guide Kit lets installers drill equal holes from the front of the elevator.

4.           External Antenna. An external GPS antenna is mounted on the roof of the combine cab and provides positional accuracy for the yield monitor. Choose from Base or Plus+ GPS accuracy.

5.           Rugged Optical Sensors. Two ruggedized, right-angle optical sensors (a transmitter and receiver) install on either side of the clean grain elevator, measuring yield volume on the passing paddles.

6.           Wiring and Harnesses. An interconnect wiring harness and primary wiring harness connect the yield monitor in the cab, to the optical sensors and moisture sensor installed on the elevator.

Creating Yield Maps with Ease

Most operators use the FarmTRX system through their smartphone or tablet via the FarmTRX mobile app. The app displays live harvest data and allows operators to fine-tune settings, such as crop type, calibrations, and header width. At the end of the day or season, data can be uploaded to the cloud to automatically generate yield maps. These maps can be immediately viewed on the FarmTRX web portal and shared with agronomists for further analysis.

The built-in GPS point location feature eliminates the need for operators to manually select fields during harvesting. The system also detects partial rows, wedges, headland turns, and static in-field unloading points, ensuring comprehensive and accurate yield mapping.
